It's the most wonderful time of the year...

I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and are looking forward to the year ahead!

I've had the most wonderful week hanging out with family and friends, eating way too much food - mainly chocolate, lying in late and generally, just taking it super easy...

For Christmas this year, I received the most amazing gifts... lots of them were of course DISNEY INSPIRED so I thought it appropriate to share some of these with you...

ENJOY! And if you would like to share with me what you got this year for Christmas, let me know in the comments!

Let's start BIG, shall we?

We're going to Disneyland! I can't believe that my Boyfriend, the self professed hater of all things Disney, is taking me away to Disneyland Paris for 5 days! I am utterly amazed!

Christmas Gift Inspiration!

Hey Everybody!

Finally December is here! After having a pretty stressful couple of weeks (which I shan't bore you all with), I'm super excited to celebrate the beginning of the Festive Season; Christmas is almost here and it will hopefully be a welcome new chapter for me!

Our Beautiful Christmas Tree! I decorated the Tree on the 1st December with help from my little Sister!
One of my all time favourite things about Christmas is purchasing everybody's Christmas presents and getting them all wrapped up to place under the tree! I have quite a small family so we tend to go a little bit nuts on each other! Having said this, since Grumpy and I have been together, I now have lots more people to buy for which is super exciting - between the two of us, we have three sisters to buy for - YAY! Consequently, Christmas present purchasing is now a military operation! Excel Spreadsheet at the ready...

The purpose of this post is to give you a little bit of inspiration as to what to buy for the Disney lover in your life. Or perhaps like me, you too are Disney mad and your loved ones have no clue what to get you... you can simply link them directly to this post for ideas if you like. You're welcome!

Enjoy! And if you have any ideas of the perfect Christmas presents for Disney fans, let me know in the comments below!

MickeyXCathKidston... again!

Hey everybody!

It's almost that time of year... Christmas! The festive season is well and truly upon us.

Yesterday, I enjoyed a really pleasant evening in my hometown, Brighton, celebrating the switching on of the Town Centre Christmas lights and of course, arguably more importantly, the launch of Cath Kidston's second Mickey Mouse Collection and the first 'out-of-hours' event at the brand new Cath Kidston Brighton store!

Following on from my recent Autumn post, I have been doing a lot of baking! I've been seriously on it; it's something about the Autumn Weather!

So far, I have baked three large Millionaire's Shortbreads, a White Chocolate and Orange Sponge Cake and the following...

A little Disney-inspired creation that I wanted to share with you.

I hope you enjoy this post! And let me know if this recipe inspires you to get baking...

My Controversial Disney Opinions...

Hey Guys!

I hope you're all having a very enjoyable October...

I often get asked a lot of questions about Disney, particularly with regards to my personal opinions. Most of the time, I think people kind of half know what I'm going to say before I answer them or rather, what they *expect* I might say. But sometimes, people are often a little taken a back with my opinions...

In the Disney Community, there are certain opinions that are pretty much held by everybody and treated as 'bible':

  • "Beauty and The Beast is a great movie"
  • "Roy Disney was an awesome CEO"
  • ...and the less said about the Walt Disney company's animated classics during the late 00s, the better!

Generally, I do agree with the community at large BUT, I have a few dark demons that I feel may rock the metaphorical boat a little... hidden demons that go against the grain when it comes to the general opinions held by most Disney fans.

And I'm going to share them with you...

Here are my 'controversial' Disney opinions. Enjoy and prepare to be, potentially, a little shocked!

'Fall' in love with Disney

Can you believe that Autumn is here?

It seems to have creeped up on us so quickly and I'm
super thrilled that my favourite Season has arrived!

Halloween, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, knitted blankets... so many of my favourite things are autumnally inclined and I can't wait to get back into the swing of everything warm and fuzzy.

(And, you know what comes after Autumn right? I can almost hear those Jingle Bells ringing already!)

There are lots of ways to get involved and to celebrate the start of Autumn and, it's super easy to incorporate Disney into this too!

Here are a few of my favourite Autumnal things to enjoy...

With a little extra Disney magic thrown in for good measure!

Chai Tea Lattes, Hot Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice... you name it, we can now drink it again!

Ditching our Caramel Frapps and Passionfruit Smoothies in favour for something, a little more comforting, is always a good thing!

I generally try to limit my hot drink intake as much as possible as I have a huge sweet tooth and always add sugar to my drinks; after starting my first 'real' job three years ago and thus, simultaneously entering the world of "one tea with milk and two sugars please," as regularly as up to five times a day (!), I recently found out that I needed my first filling during my annual dental check up! Not a good thing! So now, for me, snuggling up with a blanket in the evening, my favourite Disney Mug filled with Peppermint Tea in hand, is my favourite way to enjoy a hot beverage during the Autumn months.

My Favourite Five Disney Foods!

Hey there!

I hope you're all having a wonderful Summer; it's a real shame about the gross UK weather! This Summer, I've been dedicated to staying healthy and trying to lose a few pounds (so far I've lost 10lb and I'm feeling super empowered!) but all this working out and being 'good' with food has got me thinking about snacks non-stop! It's so hard to stay motivated and when my mind wanders...

I am often thinking about Disney treats!

Homemade Mickey Pizza by yours truly!
So here it is, My Top Five Favourite Disney Foods! Enjoy and try not to get too hungry whilst browsing through all of the delicious Disney inspired snacks!

DisneyXCathKidston: What will they think of next?

Hello Ladies and Gentleman! It's been a while...

I haven't abandoned you all; I promise! I have actually been super busy at work recently and just generally, my life has been a bit hectic! I arrived back from my holiday in Turkey about two weeks ago and since then, I have had so much on that my writing on the blog has been admittedly, quite neglected.

I apologise.

On a more positive note, I opened up my emails yesterday to find some awesome news from our friends at Cath Kidston:

Come with us to Neverland...

A very merry belated Birthday, to me!

Hey everybody!

I know I've been a little quiet of late... this often happens in June as it is my Birthday month so I am normally pretty preoccupied with all of the festivities that are happening! Sorry!
Birthday Cupcakes! 26? How did that happen?
As expected, there were some little Disney touches weaved in throughout my Birthday celebrations that I can't wait to share with you all.

I hope you enjoy this post and if you have any fun Disney-Birthday magic to share, please write me in the comments below!

What's your favourite Disney movie?

Hey everybody!

I hope you're all enjoying the much improved Spring weather. I for one am so glad that it's actually light when I get home from work now!

Aside from the Disney Parks, another aspect of The Walt Disney Company that I often get asked about is the films! And more specifically, what is...

Mickey during the Sorcerer's Apprentice portion of Walt Disney's Fantasia (1940)
Disney Screencaps
This is, as I am sure you can imagine, a very difficult question for me to answer but I have managed to compile a list of my Top Ten Disney Movies as of this present moment...

ask me again in a few weeks time and it will have no doubt changed somewhat!

To be clear, this list comprises of the 56 Official Animated Classics only, ranging from Walt Disney's first animated feature length film Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (1937), right up to Moana (2016)

There are no live action movies included in this list, sorry Mary Poppins! And there are also no acquired studio's films featured either... that means you too Toy Story!

So, without further ado, here are my Top Ten Disney Movies. Enjoy!

- Mercedes

10. Frozen (2013)
Anna and Elsa enjoy a happy moment together at the end of Walt Disney's Frozen (2013)
Disney Screencaps
Let's kick off the list with the highest grossing animated movie of all time shall we? The infamous Frozen is featured on my list, right here, in 10th Place.

It was quite bitter sweet for me, composing this list and realising that despite my persistence that 'I don't really get what all the hype is about', Frozen was actually featured on it!

I adore the gorgeous music featured within Frozen: the whimsical scores, synonymous with Disney classics; the big, Broadway style musical numbers brought to us by the brilliant Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and of course, the more modern use of Guitar, subtly weaved in throughout. Combine the awesome music with the magical quality of the animation and fully realised characterisations of Anna, Elsa and Olaf, and this movie quickly becomes the beautiful, memorable, timeless classic that we all know and love.

Disney Screencaps
But, not only has Frozen got the music, the aesthetic and the characters, I believe that it's Frozen's forward thinking plot, perfect for children growing up in the 21st Century, that truly encompasses why Frozen is just so unique.

Thoughts on Disneyland, Anaheim

Hey Ladies and Gents,

It has been a while! Hasn't it? After a very successful Easter weekend, consuming far too much chocolate and drinking equal amounts, I am now counting down the days until Summer - bring on the sunshine!

My good friend Dan has been keeping very busy this April, with a once in a lifetime trip to California nevertheless! Naturally, as a fellow Disney fan, Dan spent a part of his trip at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure - I was very jealous to say the least!

As I've never been to California myself and have visited both Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland Paris with Dan previously, I was really interested to hear what he had to say about Walt's first park so, we had a little chat to catch up and here it is... for all of you... in glorious TECHNICOLOUR...

Okay, not quite.

Enjoy it and as ever, if you have any questions for Dan or I, please let me know in the comments section below.

My Thoughts: Disney's Beauty and The Beast

Hey everybody!

Apologies that I have been a little under the radar of late. I've just got back from my first ever ski holiday which was really quite surprising... in that I enjoyed it a lot more than I had expected!

Grumpy and I left for Geneva on Saturday 18th March before heading to the French Alps; this was just 24 hours after the UK release of Walt Disney's live action Beauty and The Beast so naturally, a cinema trip took place for me hours before we departed! I couldn't wait until we got back. I had to see this movie...

Theatrical Poster: IMDB
Beauty and The Beast has huge sentimental value to me. Not only is it my favourite animated Disney movie, it was also the first musical that I ever saw in London's West End when I was a little girl. We went three times because my Mum and I loved it so much!

First Impressions of Hong Kong Disneyland - Part 1

I hope you're all doing good and enjoying the fact that it's almost Spring time. I know I certainly am!

My best friend and fellow Disney devotee, Tash, recently travelled from her home in Shanghai to Hong Kong for a short trip and naturally, she had to check out Hong Kong Disneyland along the way!

As I have never been to the Hong Kong Disney park myself, I was very eager to hear what she had to say about it and what her experience entailed! So here it is, a catch up with my oldest friend and all details about her day in Hong Kong Disneyland!

And, because I'm so good to you all (or perhaps because Tash and I chat far too much!) there will be three instalments of Hong Kong Disneyland magic posted on My Disney Blog so watch this space and make sure you subscribe for parts 2 and 3 which will be coming over the next few weeks.

Ready for Part One? Enjoy!

A chat with the woman that started it all...

Hi everybody,

I hope you're all having a great start to the weekend.

This post in some ways is one that perhaps I should have started 'My Disney Blog' with as it really signifies the beginning of my Disney obsession and consequently, the blog itself...

I have mentioned previously that the real reason for my love of Disney stems very much from my family and more specifically, my Mum, who first took me to Disneyland Paris in 1992, when I was merely one year old.

For this reason, I decided to have a chat with her about Disney - her likes, her dislikes, her experiences - as I have never really sat down with her and taken the time to do so.

I hope you guys find this an interesting read. I was really thankful to be able to discuss this fully with her and learn new things about a passion that we both share and enjoy together, even now, all these years later.

WWWT: What would Walt think?

Hey friends,

I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday whether that be by lazing around or going for brunch or shopping or whatever it is that you enjoy doing during your leisure time!

Sadly, Grumpy (that's my Boyfriend) is really ill today so I'm playing Nurse whilst writing this simultaneously. Lucky me!

My current set up: there's a poorly Grumpy in bed behind me!

Disney Resolutions: 2017 and beyond!

Hey everybody!

Apologies that I have been a little quiet so far this year. I hope that you are having a great 2017 so far!

Tash and I with Nick Wilde at Shanghai Disneyland, September 2016

I was reminiscing about my very exciting 2016 in which I first started this blog and travelled to both Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disneyland and it got me thinking...

I wonder what may lie in store for the year ahead. Specifically in relation to the wonderful world of Disney. Consequently, I have decided to make a few 'Disney Resolutions' for 2017!
